About everything in the world

Boy in striped pajamas film plot completely. Scary mystery of striped pajamas. Who from the heroes of the novel liked you

For lovers of films that show the events of the period of World War II, this work will be just a gift. But it has no fighting or formidable generals. What makes it clinging?

On the relationship of the audience for the work we will talk at the end of the article. But if you evaluate the reviews, the "boy in striped pajamas" amazes all the audience of the depth of meaning and the force of the final. True, the ending at the book and the film is completely different.

Let's get acquainted with this masterpiece closer.

Roman Boyna

John Boyne - 43-year-old Irish writer, author of twelve novels and more than seventy stories. For all time, more than five million copies were sold, which largely contributed to the filmmaker by Miramaks "the boy in the striped pajamas."

This work was awarded two international awards. In addition, for eighty weeks, the novel led the Ranking of Irish Bestsellers, the list of bestsellers "New York Times", and also became almost the most popular book in Spain in 2007-2008.

There is a famous phrase that the tired of the infant is the truth. On the pages of the novel "Boy in Striped Pajamas", the slaughter tells about the terrible events of the twentieth century through the prism of the perception of their eight-year-old child.

Let's deal with what the readers attracted this work, and also why the film turned out a bit prosaic, but harder than the book.

But to begin with a small retreat.

Holocaust in Germany during the war years

Translated from Greek, this term denotes the "burnt", in Hebrew it is called "sho" - "catastrophe". This is one of the most nasty pages of the human history of the twentieth century. Within several years, not only Jews, but also Slavs, Gypsies, homosexuals, physically defective and seriously ill people, were systematically destroyed.

In the work of a "boy in striped pajamas", the plot concerns an exclusively Jewish question, so it will be on it only about him.

What do we know from historical sources? The most realistic documents are the protocols in them containing the testimony of the SS Dieter's SS Dieter Vesillina. He calls the figure more than five million human victims.

How did such a policy develop? It all started with the arrival of the Nazis to power in 1933. Decisions are made regarding the "cleaning of the Aryan race from unwanted elements." went to several stages. Let's deal with more details.

In 1935, Nuremberg laws were proclaimed, which were deprived of the Jews of many rights and actually forced them to escape from the country. The problem was only that the majority was not for anything and nowhere to leave. In addition, all countries other than the Dominican Republic refused to take a large number of refugees, closing the borders.

The next significant event was the "Crystal Night", when there were extensive and numerous Jewish pogroms in Germany. She received such a name because of the fragments of window glasses, which were swept sidewalks.

Next was the stage of forced relocation to the East, Poland, Belarus, Western Ukraine, where fenced areas were created, labor camps, which were driving and the Jews were taken. According to experts, the largest Lviv ghetto was the largest, where more than four hundred thousand people visited for several years.

The goal was the following. It was necessary to separate the non-Jewish population from Jewish and force the latter to become slaves.

The last stage began in August 1941, when Gering gave the heydrich order about the final decision of the Jewish question. From this time, the concentration camps begin to create, where "unlike" thousands are destroyed in the "shutoffs".

Roman "The Boy in Striped Pajamas" reflects the period began to execute the order of Goring. But we'll talk about the plot a little later.

Conflicts of the work

In the book and the screening of the novel "Boy in striped pajamas" content illustrates the mood of the Germans in the first years of World War II on the example of one family.

There are several characters that reflect the different attitude towards the Jewish issue.

The main topic is revealed through the prism of the world-carriage of an eight-year-old German boy, who became friends with a small Jew in the concentration camp. He does not understand what the "farm" is not far away, and why it is not allowed there.

Over time, communicating with the servant-prisoner, as well as the boy Shmull, he understands that something bad is happening, but still idealizes the Father.

Culmination comes in the finals of the book, which remains open. In the film, the strongest moment is also reflected in the end, but it has been completed.

The second heroine appears the twelve-year sister Bruno - Gretel. It is at the beginning of the transitional age and is already deprived of many naive illusions. Her flexible worldview is vividly reacts to fairy tales of a terrible Jew, which destroys the German nation. By the end of the film, she is warmly supported by the idea of \u200b\u200bcleaning the nation from evil unlike.

The conflict between the father and mother is also revealed, the spiritual experiences of both adults are shown. The first wants to make his family happy, having received an increase, but hides all all what actually do. Mother seeks to protect children from the horrors of war, but the climax comes when she finds out the truth about the concentration camp.

Lieutenant, Grandma and Grandpa Bruno reflect the opposite attitude towards events in Germany. The first is radically configured, the second sharply negatively, and the grandfather is more neutral.

Notable torque is the death of the old woman. We learn that she "sick" (the official version for Bruno, why she does not come to visit), and then report her death. This event is in itself a riddle, but does not get developed in the film.
It turns out, it symbolizes the image of people who performed categorically against the new power and its methods. Such "protesters" simply disappeared or suddenly died.

Thus, turning the mood in the novel briefly, let's talk more about the movie "Boy in Striped Pajamas".

Plot of the film

The German officer receives an increase and is forced to move from Berlin to the village area. He is promised a big house. But the first shots of the new home show that not everything is so good, as it seemed at the beginning.

The building is more like a prison, the soldiers go everywhere. There is a feeling that the children and the woman fell into conclusion. Father just "performs work." What he definitely does, while it is unknown.

Fucking, Bruno notices a strange "farm" window, whose residents walk in striped pajamas. Mom even allows him to play with them. Here the first conflict arises when the horrors of the war begin to leak into the family.

Children see a prisoner-servant, which is assigned to the family of commandant, and parents quarrel due to the fact that the camp is close to the house.

The development of the plot occurs in two directions. On the one hand, a tutor comes, who begins to drive the ideas of national socialism and purity in the heads of children. On the other hand, the boy often makes his way through the back yard to the concentration camp fence, followed by a completely different.

At the time when Gretel is infected with the ideals of Hitler, he hangs his posters in her room, Bruno knows the opposite side of the medal. He begins to communicate with Shmull, eight-year-old Jew, through a barbed wire, and also talks with a servant.

In the answers to the inappropriate and naive questions of the little German, the author reveals all the horror and hopelessness of the position of prisoners. But this is just the beginning of the tragedy.

Periodically, the wind brings a terrible stench from the camp. Family reports that it burns dirty clothes of prisoners. The coup takes place at the end of the film, when Shmul tells Bruno about the mountains to anyone who does not need clothes in the barracks. And the lieutenant accidentally welcomes the wife of the commandant about the real "fuel" of the furnaces.

Culmination occurs when a German boy promises Jewish to help find her father in the camp. By this, he is trying to redeem his betrayal of their new friendship when Shmul had punished him.

The book ends with the penetration of Bruno inside the concentration camp through the substru. The film is slightly expanding the novel. In the film "The Boy in Striped Pajamas" end created by completed, in contrast to the printed option.

In the adaptation, we see the death of two boys in the "shuttle", as well as the mountain of the family. Father's eyes express the full collapse of his past convictions.

The final scene with a bunch of abandoned clothing of killed people returns again to thoughts about the horror of all these events.

Now let's briefly get acquainted with the cast.

The first significant role of Butterfield

Boy Brune played Eys Butterfield. This role has become its first serious appearance on the screens. He was then nine years old. The acting career of this young talent began at seven years at the stage of the school theater. Next was the role in one television drama.

For the role of Bruno, he was nominated at the "most promising beginner", but took the second place. What did this role conquer the hearts of the audience so?

We will find the answer by reading the reviews. "Boy in striped pajamas" - a film that opened the door to a young actor into the world of popularity.

Aise managed to convey the image of a sincere and naive eight-year-old boy (which, in fact, he was at that time). Knowing the world and relationship between people, he first faces cruelty and injustice of reality.

In the film "Boy in Striped Pajamas", the actors are stunningly coping with the realization of their roles. The game completely reflects the whole dramatic situation.

And the death of Bruno, according to some critics, symbolizes the death of humanity in the vice of the Reich military car.

Mother and sister Bruno

These two women played their roles perfectly. Amber Bitty - actress, playing daughter, and faith Farmiga - Mom.

They needed to express the feelings of the German women of the two age groups, with which they coped brilliantly.

If you pay attention to feedback, "Boy in striped pajamas" hurt the worldview of many people today. After all, similar ideas are popular and in our time.

Gretel absorbed all the characteristics of idealistic, young and hot youth. And already a cooled Elsa, which is what to lose and for what to fight, shows us the mood of peaceful burghers, not sympathetic Hitler's policies.

For most of the film, they live each in their fictional world. Elsa hides behind the position of the mother and his wife, which "does not climb her husband," but only engaged in the house and children. And the daughter is in false fantasies embedded in her head with a tutor, and the way of the beautiful lieutenant in which she falls in love.

The collapse of illusions occurs at the end of the film "Boy in striped pajamas". The actors stunningly played the state of the people who collapsed reality. And the young idealist, and the mature mother of the family turned out to be destroyed by the car war.

Heavy selection of commandant

Regarding the film "Boy in Striped Pajamas", the book gives more opportunities for reflection. However, the dramatization of the image of the commandant is better presented in the adaptation.

Plays a German officer who falls between anvil and hammer. He is trying to protect the family from the established position in the country, on the one hand. On the other hand, he has to fasten the rushing relationship with his wife and children who cannot withstand the cruelty of the events.

Especially noteworthy in the final of the work "Boy in striped pajamas". The film even emphasizes the attention of the viewer. The commandant, rationalized the process of destroying prisoners, immediately loses his son in this monstrous meat grinder.

His role reflects the slave position of a person in the state mechanism.

Forced to obey orders unquestioned, Ralph fulfills his duties exceptionally well. It is not bad, he copes with the role of his father at the initial stage. But in the end, everything collapses.

Lieutenant

We get at the beginning of the novel "Boy in striped pajamas" a description of the young officer as an old champion of a new ideology. He advocates the purity of the nation and is clearly proud of its involvement in the process of "garbage cleaning". Rupert Frand stunningly coped with his role.

He tries to become ideal in his new image. Why in new? Because in the process of developing the plot, we learn about his father. It turns out that this man was an opponent of Hitler's politics and left Switzerland.

So, just one answer to the empty issue of the guest about the family collapses the whole quarry of the young lieutenant, which he pecked such hopes. In addition, Kurt allows a second error. He pronounces the wife of Commandant (thinking that she knows and shares his delight) that in the furnaces are not a clothes, but corpses.

This randomly escaped replica simultaneously destroys both the Ralph family and Elsa, and the future of Lieutenant ketlar. As a result, he is sent to the front.

Thus, in the novel "Boy in striped pajamas", the author shows the silence of a military car, which does not pay attention to either "his" or on "strangers", but simply "feed on" human lives. And they are sacrificed in a sacrifice in a completely different ways, which plunge people in the Bay of Death and Madness besides their will.

Criticov estimates

At the beginning, let's say on the screening "Boy in striped pajamas." The film receives several awards.

At the Chicago Film Festival, he wins the audience prize sympathy. In Spain, gets the Goya Prize as the best film of Europe. Farmig Vera receives an independent Kinonagrada Great Britain as the best actress of the year.

In addition, Aisa Butterfield was nominated as the "opening of the year" for the role in the film "The Boy in Striped Pajamas". The content and setting so seized the members of the jury that Herman receives a prize in the nomination "Best Director".

Now reviews critics about the novel. Such means of information like "Gardian" and "Irish time" called it a small masterpiece, in the heart and literally corrosive soul.

Also interesting is such a review: "This is a parable about the purity of human good and innocence, which are outside the eternal struggle of light and darkness."

What can be said about the novel "Boy in striped pajamas"? The book at one time produced a furor in Europe and honestly ranked among the masterpieces of world literature.

The main sad leitmotif of the work is that such atrocities happened a long time ago, in the past century, and they will not repeat. The tragedy of this phrase is that in reality it turns out to be sarcasm.

I am terribly ashamed that before watching the film about the position of the Jews in the second world I knew very little. Well, there was a racial theory. Well, there was a Holocaust, concentration camps and gas chambers

And then I completely accidentally looked "the boy in striped pajamas." In the end, I, of course, roared. But not from the film, and not even for the reason that I am too impressionable. I suddenly realized that these people were not to blame for anything, they were killed simply, because some kind of Hitler came up with racial theory. But closer to the film. The first wishes after watching were:

1) Write a positive feedback (but then I changed my mind and realized that the ending is too cruel.)

2) Strangle Hitler with their own hands (this desire arose before, but now it has reached its apotheosis.)

3) Strangle the boy's father. There was a feeling that he was just to mock the Jews in the buzz. But as you know, the payback ever comes for everything. Here the dad-commandant also paid.

4) Strangle mom boy. There was no half a year, as before the adorable mother, Bruno came out, which is actually burned, there, for the wire (and then not without tips of the brave lieutenant of Catler). He shares her stupidity. As you know, Bruno was released to walk only on the front yard. The front yard is perfectly visible from the windows of the house. Question! How? How was it possible to disturb my son?! Is it really not noticed that the boy does not ride as it should be on the ride, but disappears unknown where? Not as she is even busy in the end (they are removed and prepared servants). But nevertheless, the actress played wonderful, she wants to believe.

5) the strongest desire was to strangle Bruno. Guy is 8 years old, but nevertheless, he is not aware of what is happening in the country. The feeling is that he is a little lagged in development. It is clearly said, not to go to the territory of the house. But he still went.

Here was one interesting moment in the film when Bruno is waiting for Shmul near the fence. He sits hence, waiting for him, throws pebbles into a wire and understands that this wire is not simple, but electric. That is, the guy realizes that it is dangerous for life, and do not touch it. Question to the creators of the film: So what is neh still Bruno? He is stupid, or still not as it seems at first glance? All doubts are dispelled at the end. A couple of hours, the shovel and the dining on a dangerous territory is ready. But maybe nevertheless Bruno was not stupid? Maybe he was from those people about whom they say: "For a friend, life will give?" And in the literal sense.

Despite these flaws, the film is penetrated into the very heart. And he will remain there forever. Just as forever remains in our hearts and the memory of innocent Jews, the victims of the Holocaust.

Not so easy to tell in two words about this amazing book. Usually, the abstract gives the reader to understand what we are talking about, but in this case we fear that any preliminary conclusions or tips will only prevent him. It seems to us very important that you start to read, without knowing what awaits you. We just say that you are not waiting for the usual and fascinating journey along with the nine-year-old boy named Bruno. But immediately warn you that this book is not for nine-year-old boys, on the contrary, it is a very adult book facing people who know what a barbed wire is. It is a barbed wire that will grow on your way with Bruno. This kind of fence is quite common in our world. And we can only hope that you personally will not come across anything like that. The book will surely capture you and is unlikely to go soon. "Boy in striped pajamas" - a parable about the Holocaust, told Bruno, naive and little as a concerned boy. It is extremely unusual, non-bank and because of the terrible view of the horror of the 20th century. On the novel just removed the film, the shooting was carried out in Budapest. In one of the main roles - the English actor David Tuelis, whom Russian audiences know the role of the field of Vilna in the drama of Agnies Holland "Full Eclipse" and Rimus Lupine in the shields "Harry Potter". English director Mark Herman for his previous film "Orchestrants postponed their pipes" In 1998 he received the French Prize "Cesar" for the best foreign film. The film's premiere is scheduled for the end of 2008.

It is difficult, it is very difficult to write about the book that shook the feelings so much

It is difficult, it is very difficult to write about the book that shook the feelings so much. The topic of the Second World War herself always worried me. Perhaps because in battle my great-grandfather died, perhaps, because for me, human life is the highest value, perhaps because the war leaves no one indifferent. Even children. Children who have not had time to live in this world that could be happy and healthy, but the war did not regret even them. Small, innocent souls ... They do not know what a hostility is. They are open to friendship and take each other certainly.

The main hero of the novel is an eight-year-old boy, the son of the head of the concentration camp, who, together with his father and family, moved to live from Germany to Poland. The will of fate he meets the Jewish boy who lives his short life in the concentration camp. Children are difficult to understand why all this happens why they are, two identical boys are forced to communicate through a barbed wire. But no fence, no conventions, no rules, no prejudice can interfere with their bright, sincere friendship. They see solely similarity: at the age, in appearance, in hobbies, in their views. Even in life situations that occur on different directions of fences with each of them, they find something that even better to bring them closer. There are no nationality for them. The main value for them is the warmth of human relations, friendship and mutual execution.

The story ends tragically. Both boys turn out to be in the concentration camp and take death by the fascist regime. But even in the most recent minutes, they hold hands, because they are best friends. German and a Jew, two innocent souls, so few seen in life, but so deeply familiar with the true values.

No, you will not find in this book of bloody battles, the richness of aggressive emotions, will not see the terrible death of that war. But you will feel all the horror somewhere in the depths of the soul. Anxiety increasing from the first pages will turn into a silent cry, breaking the heart on the part. "Boy in striped pajamas" - an insanely touching book about children's sincere friendship and adult silly hatred.

In the house, this book got quite randomly. Little neat tomik is a very comfortable, pocket format. On the cover - two boys separated by barbed wire. Age, loneliness and children's naivety - what unites German Bruno and the Jew of Shmuel and helps them be friends, despite the wire.

In the first approach of Fed, the novel categorically did not like. Reaching until the end of the text, he displeasedly noticed that it was not clear in it, and the story ended, in general, too, nothing. And here Fedya in his own way, because there is an intrigue: there is no clear explanation and conclusions in the book, and black with white can easily change places. Similarly, the main character, Bruno, does not understand what is happening around: Parents respond evasively, important topics are discussed behind closed doors, the housekeeper does not agree with the older sister, the Gretel cannot communicate at all. What to do in such a situation a little nine-year-old child (in the film Bruno still younger)?

Fedya, like Bruno, was lost in guesses, who is Mr. Fouron, who imposes high hopes for dad? And why dad teaches Bruno and Gretel welcome hand and pronounce two words, the meaning of which the boy is unclear? And correctly disappear by the name of his boss - "Fuj ..." - the author does not delicately reach the "Führera", limited to the recognizable first syllable. There is no explanation and the place where the family moved from Berlin - to dissatisfaction of everyone, except Pope. What kind of mysterious point on the map: al-otvau? The name of the sadly famous concentration camp of Auschwitz, he is Auschwitz, never mentioned in the book.

The cinema of the "Boy in Striped Pajamas" before the showroom was held with us through the millstone of the family cencing. I think the Oscar Film Academy of Awards spend their discussions with less zeal and azart. The main argument "Against" - why show the boys with a cruel reality that can shock them? In the world, there is enough negative. Cinema without happie-end does not leave the viewer. The arguments "For" defended the position, rather, intuitively, in the blind faith, that if we with the children we will pass this screen story together, shoulder to the shoulder, then they will understand everything right.

The cinema put everything in its place. Fedya said that he liked the film more - I think, a big role was played by the fact that the movie we looked threesome, and somewhere I could comment on what is happening on the screen. Big gratitude to the British director Mark Hermanman for the aesthetics of shooting is thin and piercing. But I know this now, and then, while watching, I pulsed the only question in my head: Do I do that I do that I show it to my boys? And if now they will dream of nightmares? And what was the full horror of the eyes of the eight-year-old Vanya, when he saw Bruno calmly moved into a striped robe and climbs to a friend under the wire ... Several times I offered to stop the film, but the Welded boys, like rabbits before the shovel, did not give off the screen.

In the painting, Mark Herman is not shown in the forehead, alive. Here the camera is delayed a little longer than you need, in a dark basement, on the Gretel dolls flooded in the corner. For some reason, the dolls are all naked, and from this stationary, soulless plastic piles can be horrified, which Fedya and Vanya still do not feel. "Gretel, there are your dolls!" - "I don't need them anymore ..." Silent and silent servant Paul, saving scratched knee Bruno: "Actually I am a doctor. Sometime I had a practice ... "- and a look, full of treacherous moisture. But Paul smiles, and from his good smile, the tears are already getting ready for me. "Who are these people?" - "They are Jews." - "What is Jews?" - "Well, they are not like us. We are others. "

Vanya notices that "it's like in Romeo and Juliet - children are friends, and their families will never be able to make up. Where he got in his head, I do not know - before the old Sheckspeare, we have not accurately reached. An unexpected idea is to compare the montexti drama and cabins with a fascist-Jewish confrontation.

After the "boy in the striped pajamas" and we talked for a long time. And now I am sure that the main value of the film (and, of course, books) is these questions that arise. We discussed different nationalities: Vanya recalled a classmate with the Georgian surname, and I am a unique Olympic champion, Korean Victor Ana. Remember the noblest Janusha Korchak. They said that it is impossible to raise yourself over others, guided only by origin. Until now, we somehow have no reason for such difficult topics.

Although no, there was a reason: Recently, someone from the boys commented on the sports television program: "Oh, China ran away!" Something I answered - it is impossible, they say, it is insulting. People can not be offended by the nationality, which seems to you, perhaps funny. I understand that the word brought from school, and this is one of the most harmless epithets that I sometimes hear from the School Set.

Here are still the Fedins of Thought along the plot: "The most terrible moment is, of course, when Bruno and Shmuel fall into the chamber and the door closes behind them. And yet - when the German lieutenant beats Paul, and none of the family interferes. From their dad can no longer be waiting for nothing good, it is understandable, but everyone else behave like traitors. And smoking pipes of furnaces - it is also terrible. Bruno would be very hard to live if he knew that his dad burns people in the oven. Probably, in general, it is impossible to live. "

The observant Vanya asked, "What German gas used and what powder piled into the camera?". Here I was, I confess, incompetent. About the Powder "Cyclone-B", which when contacting oxygen takes a gaseous state, learned after the film. This hellish invention has its own bitter mystery: a scientist who has developed gas, the Nobel Prize winner died in emigration after the arrival of Hitler to power, and part of his relatives accepted painful death in Nazi camps.

And yet, is it possible to offer a "boy in striped pajamas" with young and wound readers? My good friend who lives in Israel with two children, said how to local adolescents at school talk about Shoa - the history of the European Jewishness catastrophe: "Children learn to fully in the 6th grade, and in the 7-8rm they are brought To Poland to the camp. Right must with a psychologist, because for schoolchildren it is always shock. I will not give my ten-year-old son to my book: I think it is difficult for a child to imagine the scale of what happened ... "

And for myself, I decided that you can get acquainted with the "boy in striped pajamas", but with a prerequisite condition - the participation of an adult who can answer all the questions that arise. And yet: finding the right answer was not always simple.
