Description

Moli Hua Cha, a jasmine tea from Fujian, also known as "Scent of Spring". It is the most recognized jasmine flavored Chinese tea with a history of 1500 years. It was known as early as the Sunn Dynasty (960-1279), however, in those days, jasmine tea did not yet have a commercial status and was mainly in demand only by tea connoisseurs.

The peak of its popularity came during the reign of the Great Empress Cixi. The classic Moli Hua Cha was her favorite tea and quickly became fashionable. At the same time, the tea province of Fuzhou, noted by the Empress, began its long journey of accumulating experience and improving the traditions of the production of green jasmine tea.

In 1903, at the greatest Japanese tea exhibition in Osaka, jasmine tea received the highest award in the flavored tea category - the Crescent.

Taste
The taste is soft, rich with the aroma of jasmine.

    Vitaly September 12, 2019:

Moli Hua Cha - tea that sets the mood! Beautiful clean raw materials of amazing green color, without fine dust. Light yellow transparent infusion with sweet, rich taste, while jasmine organically coexists without interrupting green tea, and with a long refreshing aftertaste. This tea “sets” well even in winter, despite the fact that I am used to drinking a completely different group of teas in the cold. The main thing is not to put too much tea leaves and not to overexpose, as it is bitter mercilessly. In summary, Moli Hua Cha is a good tea, both for yourself and as a gift for friends / relatives. Moreover, the price is more than democratic.

Very pleasant and most importantly fragrant tea. Didn't regret it.

    Sergey_S September 10, 2018:

A very good tea, especially compared to other jasmine green teas I have tried. “Chemistry” does not give away, the aroma of jasmine without busting. Green tea at the base is also full. Surprisingly, it really soothes, which is why it is best drunk in the evening. In the morning, somehow it doesn’t “go” at all. It seemed to me quite demanding on the temperature and duration of brewing. If brewed with insufficiently hot water, it becomes too sweet, and if overexposed a little, it becomes unpleasantly bitter. At some point, it becomes clear what temperature is needed and how long to keep it on each brew, and then you feel that the tea is very worthy, especially for its price.

    Kage July 10, 2018:

I am just starting to get involved in tea culture, so I carefully chose both the tea and the amount per sample. Drinking by force is pointless, as well as throwing out the tea itself, which has long been exhausted because it was forgotten in the far corner.
I saw a comment here mentioning a character - Iroh and perhaps it was he who piqued the interest in Jasmine Tea.
Then there was one problem - my ignorance of where and how to buy green tea, namely with jasmine. What I got in the supermarkets and tea shops in my small town was just flavored herbs. Even when it was brewed according to the indicated recommendations. This turned my attention away from this type of tea for a long time.
Seeing jasmine tea here, I decided to order it for a sample, more like an addition to the main purchase - gaiwan.
Pleasant aroma, pleasant taste, beautiful in its simplicity unfolded leaves with jasmine flowers and a pleasant color of the infusion itself.
I have not learned how to characterize the notes of taste, and therefore I will not try to describe the whole gamut of my feelings. For me personally, tea should be a self-sufficient drink, with a pleasant aroma and taste, which does not need to be eaten with sweets, and which can be drunk both alone and in company with equal pleasure. This tea fits.
    Thank you DaoChai.

    New batch spring 2018

    m00n1ight February 13, 2018:

I confess, with apprehension I took this tea for testing. It’s not that I’m afraid to spoil my Yixing teapot with flavoring - I also have a gaiwan (and more than one - thanks to DaoChai) - but I had the experience of drinking various packaged green teas from supermarkets, including jasmine. That was probably the most disgusting of all.

Here there is nothing of the kind. A small portion of tea was brewed in a voluminous silver-plated gaiwan with relatively warm water (about 80 degrees). The result was a beautiful, sweetish odorous infusion, with a soft taste that has nothing to do with the disgusting bitterness and harshness of its packaged versions.

But still, for me, this tea is exclusively in my mood, and I won’t drink it every day - for that, a minus point.

    Anastasia October 15, 2017:

    Great tea! Very tasty!
There is nothing to say about the aroma - jasmine jasmine!
The first strait apparently overexposed, it turned out a bit tart for me, the other four came out just fine!
Sweet on the palate, fragrant, and ubiquitous jasmine. A very sensual tea.
    Liked it very much!
You really need to brew very carefully - for the first time, take a little less than you want, and keep a few seconds less than you are used to.
And then adjust according to your taste.

Hurry up to buy Moli Hua Cha tea with a rich jasmine flavor and aroma. Very soft, refined and saturated - it will definitely not leave true connoisseurs indifferent.

Taste, color and aroma

Moli Hua Cha was known as early as the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Even then, its mild taste, jasmine aroma and very pleasant aftertaste were highly appreciated. The main feature of this tea is that live jasmine petals are added to it, and sometimes even whole branches, which give the drink an original taste.

With all this, shades of green tea are clearly felt in it, it is not oversaturated with jasmine and retains a kind of “taste neutrality”. Properly brewed Moli Hua Cha has a light yellow hue.

How to brew Moli Hua Cha

For brewing Moli Hua Cha, a spacious transparent dish is ideal, in which you will see how white flowers bloom and magical patterns form.

  • Heat the water to 80-85 degrees Celsius. Do not boil tea. Preheat the kettle.
  • Calculate the amount of tea leaves in the ratio of 1 teaspoon of tea leaves to 150 ml of water.
  • Drain the first infusion completely.
  • Second brew - 30 seconds. Subsequent ones are longer, but not more than a minute.

If bitterness appeared in the taste of tea, then you overexposed the tea leaves or poured too much of it.

Tea is in perfect harmony with moderately sweet cookies or pastries. But such that they do not kill the taste of the drink itself and its aftertaste.
