About everything in the world

The difference between scented candles and ordinary ones. Aroma candles. DIY shell candles at home

Pre-holiday days fill store shelves with an incredible variety of candles - how to make the right choice and what purchases should be avoided?

Shine everywhere

A rare perfume brand does not release its line of candles. There is practically no boutique or hotel where they do not distribute their fragrance - often it is custom-made by such famous perfumers as Olivia Giacobetti, Isabelle Doyen, Celine Ellena, Rami Mekdachi (Rami Mekdachi). With the onset of cold weather, candles are replacing flowers on restaurant tables. Their soft light makes the interior more refined and spiritual.

Their hypnotic flame is conducive to trust, intimacy, seduction. Creates a chamber atmosphere for intimate conversations or for meditation, soothes, lulls. One way to indulge in bliss is to take a bath surrounded by scented candles.

What is worth the candle

The price of high-quality candles reaches 20–40 euros. “If the amount is lower, then you run the risk of purchasing a product of dubious quality, for example with a glass candlestick that can crack from heat,” explains Patty Canac, an olfaction specialist and professor at the Isipca Institute of Perfumes and Cosmetics (France). The surface of the candle should be smooth - this indicates that it contains mineral wax, which can convey all the notes of the fragrance, even the lightest ones, such as the aroma of citrus fruits. “It is better to give preference to candles in transparent glass, then, by turning it over, it will be easier for you to check whether the wick attached to the bottom of the metal substrate of the glass is located exactly in the center. This is the guarantee of its quality: the wick will not bend, and the candle will burn out to the end, ”says Patty Kanak. This substrate should not be made of lead (it is harmful to health), but of zinc. To check this, rub it against a piece of white paper: if you find traces of gray, then it contains lead. Pigments help thicken the wax, so a colorless (white) candle burns more evenly and releases fragrance better. The wick must be made of cotton. Candles that are too large in diameter, as a rule, do not burn out to the end. And if they have several wicks, make sure that they are not too close to each other.

fiery fragrance

The content of a perfume to create a pleasant smell should range from 10 to 12%, but this also depends on its notes: jasmine, for example, is brighter than musk. “Some cheap candles only have the surface scented, using an eyedropper,” says Patty Kanak. “They smell good when bought and after the first ignition.” There are "noses" that specialize in creating perfume compositions designed exclusively to interact with wax. “Scenting a candle is a very complex process,” continues Patti Kanak. “We need to test every perfume ingredient in the wax. Creating a perfume composition for a candle is a little different from what is used for skin: there is no olfactory pyramid, which means there are no top, heart and base notes. The aroma of a candle does not undergo such metamorphoses as on the skin, it opens immediately. This implies compliance with certain rules and a balance of all components. High-quality wax, perfume and wick are the key to success. A good candle burns for a long time and evenly (there is no funnel on the surface), it does not smoke, the wick remains straight and is in the middle, and a pleasant aroma emanates from it until the very end of burning (up to 60 hours).

Which wax is best

“In fact, it is better to choose mineral wax candles that meet European and American quality standards - they do not emit harmful fumes,” says Patty Kanak. “Vegetable wax burns correctly, without forming soot and burning on the glass, but it is consumed faster and retains aroma worse.” There are several vegetable waxes (soy, carnauba, jojoba, copra oil or palm oil). As for beeswax, it is very environmentally friendly, but it is extremely difficult to flavor it (because the natural smell is quite strong) and the price is high. “Beeswax is more commonly used to make simple candles,” says Norbert Hiblot, owner of the Geodesis brand, which produces its own scented candles. – For candles filled in containers, we prefer to use mineral wax, it is softer. Our task is to make sure that the surface of the candle quickly melts, which leads to the release of aroma.

What if they are toxic?

“In Europe, suppositories are part of the European Pharmacopoeia and pass the appropriate toxicity tests,” says Norber Yblo. “However, there is a risk associated with non-controlled products. For example, cheap raw materials or candles from China can release benzene, a carcinogen.” Patty Kanak does not recommend buying small candles, which are usually sold in packs of 50: “Their wax is not of good quality. The same goes for candles sold in small plastic molds – plastic melts easily.” She also advises to buy only high-quality, expensive candles and not to use them often - especially when it comes to scented candles. Then these rare moments will become precious in every sense.

How to take care of them

  • Trim the wick regularly, but only when the candle has cooled - the length should be about 5 mm so that the flame is not too high and there is no smoke.
  • While the wax is still warm and liquid, the wick can be corrected by placing it in the center with tweezers.
  • You should not light a new scented candle right before the arrival of guests - until the surface is completely melted, the aroma will not be felt. It is better to do this the day before or a few hours before the guests arrive. If after that you light a candle for only a short period, you will immediately feel a rich aroma.
  • In a smoking home, you can choose stronger scents (floral, woody, spicy) to help neutralize the smell of cigarette smoke. Strong aromas are also suitable for those whose home is full of upholstered furniture and fabrics - carpet, curtains, pillows absorb any smell.
  • Do not light scented candles during dinner - as a rule, this does not go well with the smell of food.

. At what time and in what region the culture of using scented candles was born is not known. But it is known for sure that almost every culture in which scented candles were or are present has contributed to the creation of the highest quality and most effective tool that can help a person in his life.

So the burning of powdered herbs and roots, most common in African countries, has brought its own unique influence to scented candles. The grass, burning on the flame of a candle, creates not only a unique atmosphere, but also affects the energies of the subtle plane, thereby turning the simple lighting of an aromatic candle into a small magical rite that can change a lot both in the person himself and in his environment.

Scented candles have a very wide range of uses. The easiest way to use a scented candle is to light it in the bedroom an hour before bed or throughout the night. During its burning, an aromatic candle will give off that power and form the necessary influence on a person. And the state of rest in which a person will be will only strengthen and strengthen this influence. It is no coincidence that scented candles are often placed in bedrooms, because even unlit, they exude a delicate aroma that is captured by human receptors and creates the necessary influence. But you should be careful about the aromas of candles for the bedroom, because scented candles of an “active” orientation can cause insomnia and increased excitability (however, this does not apply to candles that enhance sexual activity).

Scented candles are not just candles endowed with a certain aroma, they are part of human culture, the roots of which originated in ancient Egypt. It was from those ancient times that pharaohs and priests began to use extracts from plants in order to influence the people around them and themselves. “If nature provides such an opportunity, then why not take advantage of it?” - this or something like this may sound like a person's desire to use what the world around us gives us as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Strength and confidence, stability and comfort, cheerfulness and inner harmony - scented candles can have many aspects of influence. And in order to use all these aspects, it is enough just to light a candle.

A distinctive feature of scented candles used for magical and ceremonial purposes is that they do not need to be believed in, they do not need to be anointed, and they do not have to be used for their intended purpose.

A scented candle is something that works on its own, providing the impact it has. It is enough to read the annotation to the candle and compare its influence with the purpose and objectives of the magical ritual or rite. Put, light, get influence - this is how you can characterize the principle of operation of an aromatic candle in magic. She is not “instead of”, she is “not in spite of”, she is simply together, in the one that you define for her.

When a woman strives to win the love or attention of a particular man, then her desire is dominated not only and not so much by selfishness dictated by a simple human “I want”, but by a deeper, natural desire to get the most powerful and successful, able to protect her and her family, create a home and save him from any harm.

This desire is inherent in us by nature itself, and nature itself, in the form of a smell and aroma exuded by such a woman, attracts the attention of a man. But what if that's not enough? What to do if he is "blind and deaf" to natural urges? Almost never, such behavior of a man did not become an obstacle to his attention and feelings.

The fragrances that nature has given us have always helped in achieving this goal, and despite all the “denials” of the male sex, they always fell into the snares set by the woman.

Scented candles can not only bring novelty into our lives and enhance certain aspects of our lives, but also return to the residents of cities what they are deprived of - the strength and smells of natural phenomena. We are the children of nature, who sit in the stone jungle, smelling of gasoline, oil, asphalt and paint. Is this what our body really wants? He is part of nature, but not part of concrete and stone. Missing the natural habitat, he is sick, aging and decrepit. And we are faced with a choice: let him collapse or give what he needs.

Many scented candles, containing natural ingredients, are able to strengthen our connection with nature, give us what we lack and what we need. Maybe not completely, but a little is better than nothing at all. Better a breath of fresh air after rain than a breath of smog...

One of the unique properties that attracts magicians and esotericists to scented candles is the presence of natural ingredients that make up their composition. Herbs and oils have an influence not only on the subtle plane of a person, on his psyche, but also influence the world of energy, in which various kinds of entities can pose a danger or threat to a person.

Many people know or have heard about the influence of incense. But there are at least 100 aromas and herbs that have an equally effective effect on the essence of the subtle plane, protecting a person, cleansing the room, expelling them from the human environment. It would seem that a simple and at the same time proven way for years is a fragrance that brings peace and prosperity to the house.

Among the scents used in scented candles, the pure scents of trees and plants predominate. The creators considered that it is in its pure form that the aroma of a particular plant has the maximum effect. Indeed, the blending of fragrances gives birth to something new, but one should not leave the classic influence, proven for centuries, either.

It is these candles that are especially popular among those who are familiar with the concepts of herbal medicine. But in our case, when scented candles are used, you do not need to drink anything. Inhale the aroma of the plant you need and get the desired effect. The combination of herbal medicine and aromatherapy gives even more amazing results. The ability to combine and use various components, influencing in all necessary areas.

Scented candles often include floral scents. On the one hand, such a candle is much more durable than an ordinary flower, but on the other hand, it is able to release its fragrance "on demand", just when it is urgently needed.

Floral scented candles are part of the magic of natural scents that can be used without any restrictions. They are like a bouquet of flowers, always by the way and always out of place. In the bedroom, in the bathroom, in the kitchen - spreading their aroma, they bring warmth and comfort, create a unique atmosphere and at the same time do not require special care and attention.

People of the 21st century have separated themselves from nature so much that many of the opportunities that nature can give to their children have been forgotten. The trees that surround a person have natural healing properties that can provide relief or recovery from various diseases.

But the forest is far away, and nature is hidden behind a layer of concrete and asphalt. And in this case, things come to the rescue that have preserved and transferred the power of nature to the human world. Let not entirely, let only a part of those opportunities that nature gives us, we can use. But better a little, a little, than nothing at all, and better hope than complete hopelessness.

Scented candles containing the scents of wildlife are natural little helpers that bring the power and influence of nature into our home.

The components that make up scented candles are in most cases found in life and everyday life. They, having certain properties and qualities, are used by people who are not always aware of their influence, but always use it for their own benefit.

For example, the aroma of cinnamon, which almost always decorates the foam on a cup of cappuccino coffee. In addition to the charm that a brown strip of cinnamon powder gives, highlighting the whiteness of milk, it also performs another task. Cheerfulness, sharpness of thought, mental focus - all this, combined with the influence of coffee, creates a unique drink that is popular all over the world.

One of the most popular scents used in scented candles are herbal scents. There are several reasons that prompted manufacturers and consumers of these products to pay maximum attention to this particular direction of candles. Firstly, the aroma of flowers is always associated with a person in spring and summer - a period of maximum natural activity, when everything around blooms, is full of strength and filled with purity and light. Secondly, a flower, whatever it may be, delivers aesthetic pleasure, cheers up and creates an atmosphere of celebration. And thirdly, all of the above, combined in an aromatic candle, is extremely important for people - a positive mood, joy, comfort and celebration!

By their influence on the world around them, scented candles meet two tasks. Firstly, they create the necessary mood for those who inhale the aroma of a candle. Secondly, they create a unique atmosphere in the room, changing it for long hours. Thirdly, in addition to the aromatic effect, candles have a magical effect - the ability to harmonize many processes occurring both in the person himself and in his life. It is this property that puts scented candles on a par with magic candles, allowing them to be used as a basic or auxiliary component of a magical effect.

In the description of each candle, you can get acquainted with both the aromatic effect and learn about the magical properties of the scented candle.

One of the amazing things about scented candles is that they can have an impact on the world around them without even being lit. The subtle but powerful aroma of a candle has an impact on all who breathe it, but it does not require attention or the need to light it.

This property of scented candles is due to the fact that the candles contain natural ingredients that have a smell and, as a result, influence.

You can simply arrange a few candles in your apartment or at work - they will create the necessary influence and help transform your world.

One of the priority areas for the use of scented candles is Household and Professional Love magic. Smell, aroma, subtle vibration of natural energies - this is what penetrates through any constipation and barriers, makes a person more supple and receptive, sharpens feelings and sensations.

Experts recommend keeping at least one candle in the bedroom, whose action is focused on the love and sexual spheres of a person. A candle will not make it worse, this is a fact, but it will make everything that happens between a man and a woman better, stronger and brighter.

In Professional ceremonies, scented candles of Love magic are also indispensable. They form a subtle, but at the same time very strong background of magical action, which is then enhanced by the magician.

In India, China, Egypt, aromatic oils and aromatic ingredients were considered not only an integral part of culture, but also something that no one, one way or another connected with magic, could do without. The aromas that were used then are still used today, without losing their relevance because over all these years, human nature has remained unchanged. We react to aromas, smells, translating them into unconscious impulses, forming commands and creating patterns of behavior.

Breathe in and change your life - you can say so. Light a candle and change your life - you can do it differently. No matter what emphasis will be placed, it is important that the candle will always achieve the goal that was assigned to it.

Almost all the scents and oils used in the manufacture of scented candles have healing or therapeutic properties. The aroma of a candle, subtly influencing a person's sense of smell, reconfigures his nervous system, has a stabilizing effect on emotions and general mood. To paraphrase a phrase said by the ancients, we can say that "A healthy mind is a healthy body."

In order to get a positive impact from an aromatic candle, it is absolutely not necessary to tune in and prepare for something - the candle is burning, and you (or someone who needs help) are minding your own business. And so, step by step or breath by breath, a change will occur that will lead a person to calmness, comfort, healing.

What kind of aromas can not be found in nature, but each of them requires certain knowledge and skills that allow you to use it to its full potential. So some flavors can only be used in oils, and some only in a “pure”, natural form. Not all fragrances are able to transform under the influence of fire, which enhances the effect, allowing you to get even more effect from their use. More than one century passed before people learned how to properly use the forces of nature. But this path is not completed - there will still be discoveries, there will still be breakthroughs. But in pursuit of the new, one should not forget the “old” and proven means that always gave the desired result.

When interacting with fire, natural components behave differently. Something “burns without a trace”, absorbed by the power of the elements, something, shrouded in the power of flame, forms a new force in the world that does not exist in the natural state of nature. This is an act of creation that is available to a person and is able to change his life. It is only important to know how exactly this can be done.

You have two paths - the path of Research, which is not afraid of the "side" effects of its actions. And the path of Healing, in which you, using old proven data, change your life for the better. Everyone chooses his own path and everyone is free to go down into it. The happiness of life cannot be acquired, but only found - the ancients believed so.

The past cannot be fixed - what happened changed the world and created it the way it is. But the present and the future have always been and will remain in the hands of man. If you're trying to fix the past, you won't succeed. If you want to create a regrettable future, the universe will help you.

Scented candles that can "save" you from the burden of the past and give you a chance for a happy future are in demand not only in meditation and are used not only in contemplation techniques. They are ready to give you help and support in times of despair, depression, disappointment. They, as part of nature, are able to revive a person. For the future…

In ancient times, it was customary to light magic candles before going to bed. And the reason for this was not to “drive away evil spirits” and provide a person with a restful sleep, but also so that in a dream a person could receive the help and support he needed.

During wakefulness, our attention is more focused on the processes of the surrounding world and less on our internal state. Sleep helps to "get" to our subconscious, but often does not give peace.

Scented candles can give you something that no psychoanalyst can give you - the ability to dive into your own subconscious, giving help and support, creating exactly the effect and the impact that you need.

In predictive magic, candles play a very important role. They protect a person from the influence of forces that can interfere or upset plans. A candle or candles used "in its place" help to eliminate the emotional background, increasing the reliability of the forecast or prediction.

And a candle, which uses aromatic components, can take prediction to a whole new level. Not only will it have a protective and cleansing effect, it will help you tune in, correct the emotional background, and create the necessary support. And in case you need to correct the situation, the energy of the candle will already be at hand.

Why do you think witches work by candlelight? That's right, they simplify their lives in order to concentrate on the main thing!

For those who are familiar with the rites of Love magic, it is well known that not only the correct and high-quality conduct of the rite itself is important, but also the preparatory work that precedes the rite itself. If a person is ready for influence, then it will give the maximum effect inherent in the rite.

It is for this reason that the room in which the ceremony is performed is cleaned by placing magic candles in its corners. They eliminate negativity by shaping the energy of the room for the desired impact. And if the magician adds aromas of herbs and oils to these candles, then this forms ready-made portals in the energy of the surrounding world, through which almost any influence can be realized.

Aromas have found their application not only in magic. Many religions use various aromas and incense to create the necessary atmosphere, sentence believers to service, and create a protective background during worship.
Smoking - this is how they used to call the burning of various aromatic herbs for the glory of the Gods. This created great benevolence and formed the disposition of the Celestials. It was considered so, but it is considered so.

If you intend to correctly and successfully carry out magical, ritual, ritual actions, then aromatic candles, as well as incense, should become an integral part of the ceremony for you.

Associative and figurative perception helps to get the most out of the use of magical and aromatic candles. It is enough for you to light this or that aroma, as your consciousness will kindly provide you with an image and a plot that will enhance your actions.

People, inhaling certain smells, unconsciously tune in to a certain way, thereby becoming more susceptible to various kinds of influences.

Those who practice Love Magic know that often a person perceives his partner by the smell that he exudes. The smell, which binds the subconscious of a person with the forces of nature, leads him, guides and encourages him.

In addition to the unique individual influence that each fragrance and each scented candle has, it is impossible not to mention the combined influence. 2 or 3 candles with different scents, lit indoors, can give an effect comparable to a small magical rite.

Each of the candles, exerting its individual influence, begins to interact with the other candles, enhancing and complementing the effect of its action.

. So the Chamomile Candle, lit with a Rose candle, is able to relieve tension in relationships, clear ties between people, bring peace and tranquility to relationships.

By combining the influence of candles, you can create your own aromatic schemes of influence.

Spiritual practices aimed at immersing a person into the depths of his subconscious in order to explore his inner world and his capabilities are extremely complex. They are complex because, despite the egoism and egocentrism of a person, his interests are closely connected with the outside world and those who are in it.

Only a small fraction of the information, thoughts, experiences that a person "processes" relate specifically to him. The ancients knew about this and tried to shift the point of human attention, directing it into the depths of the subconscious.

To achieve this effect, along with controlled or plot meditation, it was recommended to use various aromas that increase the susceptibility of a person, creating the necessary mood.

The ability to drive away evil, evil spirits, negative energy is inherent in each aromatic candle. Fire purifies, eliminates everything superficial, illusory, alien, not allowing it to approach the place where it burns.

Since ancient times, the influence of Fire, as well as Fire itself, has been considered sacred. He could do a lot, but only with those who knew his temper and his abilities.

Not a single person can describe all that fire can do, that it is capable of. But at the same time, one person will be able to say what he has done or will do for you.

This person is you. Not a consumer, but an ally, not a performer, but a creator of his own happiness, walking hand in hand with the Power that underlay all creation.

This post-instruction is for those who prefer really nice-smelling candles to the chemicals that are sold in our stores. Of course, there are manufacturers who add really natural oils to their products, but these candles are very expensive. So if you have a desire to tinker a little and try your hand at making candles, have patience and, of course, free time, this post is just for you.

Ingredients

I will try to give you the most concise and understandable instructions for making scented candles.

You will need:
- wax or paraffin (you can use old candles);
- essential oils of your choice;
- lace;
- scissors;
- small glass jars into which candles will be poured;
- heat-resistant dishes for melting wax;
– a special thermometer for measuring the temperature of melted wax (optional);
- a thin wooden stick;
- tape measure or ruler;
- cutting board;
- a nut to hold the cord.

Manufacturing

1. Wash and dry the containers in which you are going to fill the candles. These can be small glass jars, tall glasses of various shapes, ceramic or porcelain cups.

2. Line your work surface with baking paper. Since the wax will be soft, it can stick to the table and be difficult to remove.

3. Break a bar of wax or an old candle into small pieces so that they melt faster.

4. Now you need to prepare the wick for the candle - make the "seed". This will ensure that the wick matches the color of the candle, burns more slowly, and is easier to install. So, first you need to melt the wax! Pour a small amount of small pieces of wax or paraffin into a bowl and place it in a water bath. When the wax melts, put the wick of the length you need there for 20-30 seconds. Then remove from the bowl with tweezers and place on baking paper. Straighten the wick, straighten it and roll it a little on the table, as if you were making a plasticine sausage. Leave to dry for 10 minutes.

5. After the wick is dry, thread it through the nut to help hold the bottom of the wick to the bottom of the candle. It can be found either in needlework stores, or borrowed from tea candles.

6. Reheat the wax, add the remaining pieces there and melt. Then add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. You can make mono smells, or you can try mixtures. For example, a few drops of cedar oil, a couple of drops of eucalyptus and three drops of citrus essential oil. Stir the wax well with a wooden spatula.

7. Remove the wax from the fire. Pour about 1/4 of the wax into an ovenproof dish.

8. Pour a little wax into the prepared candlesticks, making sure that the wick is always in the middle. Leave to harden for 20-25 minutes. This will help keep the wick in the middle as the candle fills up.

9. Heat the remaining wax, pour it into a heat-resistant dish and fill the candles to the end.

10. Carefully wind the remaining top of the wick onto the wooden stick so that the tension is not very strong. Otherwise, you can pull the nut from the bottom and have to redo everything again. Attach the wick to the stick and place it on the edge of the candlestick so that the wick stays in the center of the candle.

11. When the candle is completely cool, trim the wick so that a small tail about 5 mm long remains above the surface.

Trim the tail of the wick each time after using the candle. This is especially true for candles with glass candlesticks, which can burst from overheating if the wick is too long.

Personally, I burn candles not only on a birthday cake and when the lights are turned off, but also in situations that at first glance do not portend anything of the kind. For example, in the office in broad daylight. A timely lit candle with an invigorating citrus aroma on the work table works better than a cup of freshly brewed coffee - forgive me the fire department. In the evening, at home, one cannot do without the exhibits of my wax museum, especially when a blizzard howls outside the window. Why am I? And to the fact that candles are just as important a part of personal space as your favorite fragrances, which means that you need to choose them with a sense of sense-arrangement. Well, with knowledge of the matter, of course.

First you need to decide where exactly you plan to put the candles. Living room, bathroom or bedroom? In the first case, more saturated aromas (Amouage, Smile) will be appropriate, unlike the bedroom, where calm compositions (Hervé Gambs, Eau Douce) should be selected, otherwise you risk getting sleep problems. If you have a small bathroom, then it is better to choose a candle that is not too loud in sound. Considering the size of the room is fundamentally important: candles with five wicks, as, for example, in the Roja Parfums collection, are able to scent almost an entire football field and therefore “suffocate” a small space, but are ideal for parties in large halls. For an ordinary room, a 200-gram candle is enough, designed for about 40 hours of burning.

Another criterion is the task that you set for yourself and the fragrance. If you want to cheer up, take a closer look at citrus and mint compositions - you should look for the best at Jo Malone London (Lime Basil & Mandarin). If you are going to relax, then you will find ideal options at Tiziana Terenzi with fragrances from the Luna collection of perfumes (Andromeda, Draco and Cassiopea). Compositions with the smell of lavender, cotton or light white flowers are also suitable - Giardino Benessere, L'Occitane, Au Pays De Fleur d "Oranger (Les Inedits collection), as well as Sumenkov parfumeur. You should go to the latter not only for flower arrangements , but also behind the Black Tea / Castoreum candle - its naturalistic aroma of black tea will fit perfectly into a cozy evening with the family. For gourmet aromas, go to Jardins d "Écrivains - a brand known not only for its bibliophilic perfumes, but also for candles with the smell of marzipan ( Casanova). Even if you don't like to cook, fill the house with the bliss of a French patisserie.

Well, if you are determined to spend not only the evening, but also the night with someone, head straight to the corner by Kilian. Maestro Hennessy definitely knows a lot about seduction and recommends the aroma of tuberose, his favorite flower and, according to Kilian, the strongest aphrodisiac.

The aroma of a candle should not be dissonant with the interior and its owners, its task is to complement the image and create harmony. So, resinous-spicy compositions will perfectly fit into oriental interiors, and it is more appropriate to fill a room decorated in light pastel colors with light floral aromas.

The next step is directly choosing the very ideal candle. First of all, it is worth abandoning those made from paraffin (a petroleum product): when heated, it releases chemicals that can cause allergies. In addition, pure paraffin does not hold aroma well.

The best candles are made from wax. But what exactly is not so important. It can be either mineral, soy or bee. Alexander Sumenkov, journalist, blogger and owner of his own perfume brand Sumenkov parfumeur, advises: “Ideally, the composition of the wax should be multi-component - for example, “beeswax + coconut wax + paraffin”. Properly selected proportions affect the aesthetic appearance of the candle, how quickly the wax melts and the aroma spreads.

Standard 200-300-gram candles should be lit for an average of an hour to avoid the appearance of a hole around the wick and allow the wax to melt evenly. Before each use, do not forget to trim the top of the wick to 5 mm, otherwise the candle will smoke and the glass will eventually become covered with an unattractive black coating. If you are sure that you will be too lazy to do this, choose candles in black glass right away.

The candle must be given time to open and fill the room with its aroma. Therefore, if you are waiting for guests, it is better to light candles half an hour before they arrive. However, it is also not worth letting them burn for too long, otherwise you risk getting too rich aroma in the house. Look for the golden mean. Pay attention to the concentration of aromatic oils in the composition - the higher it is, the brighter the perfume composition will be. So, for example, in ordinary candles from a supermarket, this concentration is about 0.5-1%, so sometimes the smell is enough only for the first use. In high-quality candles, the percentage is often similar to that in perfumery water - 12% (Dyptique), 20% (Tiziana Terenzi). By the way, the Terenzi family, perfumers in three generations, use wood as a wick - during burning, the candle recreates the crackling of the fireplace. In addition, their candles, produced using a special technology, release pure water vapor during combustion, moisturizing the air. Giardino Benessere candles are created using the same Air Therapy technology; in addition, they contain 30% essences, which provide negative ionization of the air, helping to purify it.

Lighted in the house, it purifies the air, fills it with fragrance and positive energy. This is an ancient remedy for the treatment of various ailments, meditation, relaxation. Burning candles create an atmosphere of love and romance. Therefore, it would be useful in every home to have a couple of such items in stock.

Where to buy scented candles?

Handmade candles - simple, affordable, beautiful!

At home, it is quite possible to make such fragrant wax items on your own. How to make aromatic is described in the following master classes. First, consider method number 1 - the easiest.

We take the most ordinary odorless, preferably wide. We light it and wait a few minutes until the wax melts around the wick and a depression appears. We blow out the fire. We choose an essential oil to your taste and pour a few drops of it into the recess on the candle. Let the product dry. Then we use it for its intended purpose. It is important to remember that essential oil should not be poured under a burning candle, as this can cause inflammation and an unpleasant odor.

Method number 2

Following the description below, you can make a product such as an aromatic candle at home. For its manufacture you will need the following materials:

  • metal form;
  • wax (paraffin);
  • scotch;
  • wick;
  • essential oil;
  • petrolatum;
  • saucepan.

Manufacturing instructions

The candle mold can be made from any tin container (can). It should have the appearance of a cylinder, a smooth structure of the walls and edges. We make a hole in the bottom of the mold through which the wick will be pulled. It can be pulled out of an ordinary candle or woven from a cotton (and only such!) Thread. On low heat, melt the wax, but do not let it boil. The temperature of the paraffin mass should not exceed 60 degrees. Soak the wick with essential oil with the desired aroma. Then we dip it into the wax liquid. After that, keep the wick in a vertical position until the shell on it dries. We stretch this blank through the hole in the form, at the bottom from the outside we fix its tip with adhesive tape. Lubricate the inner surface of the container with petroleum jelly or aromatic oil. On top of it, spices can be poured onto the walls. In the melted wax in the saucepan, add essential oil (you can have several at once). The proportion of fragrant filler from the total mass should be 10% (10 grams of oil should go to 100 grams of wax). Stir the resulting liquid and pour a small amount of it into the bottom of the mold. We put the wick in a vertical position and wait until the mass hardens a little. Next, fill the container with wax completely. The scented candle should now dry completely. The thicker it is, the longer this process will last. To make the product harden faster, after the wax has cooled, you can place it in the freezer for an hour. Next, take it out of the mold. After cooling, this happens easily. We set the candle in a candlestick or on a saucer and use it for its intended purpose. If the product was made as a gift, then decorate it in transparent wrapping paper and tie it with a ribbon. A beautiful fragrant gift is ready!
